Manassas City Hosts Annual Public Utilities Day Oct. 11
Free family event and digger demo. Manassas Utilities to offer Cherry Picker Truck Rides and Free Virginia Barbecue.

On Sat., Oct. 11, the City of Manassas Utilities and Public Works department is hosting their annual Public Utilities Day event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their facility at 8500 Public Works Drive in Manassas, Va. The event features free tours of the facility, various utility displays, electric city, water shed, sewer shed and digger derrick demonstrations, kids’ activities, raffle prizes, a barbecue lunch by Virginia Barbecue, ice cream by Nathan’s and Miss Lyn balloonist. “Public Utilities Day is a popular event where families get a behind-the-scenes look at how their utilities work--from watching our electric city demonstration and learning all about safety to understanding the life cycle of water and how to save money on their utility bills,” said Mike Moon, director of public works and utilities for the City of Manassas.

This marks 101 years of reliable service from the City of Manassas Public Works/Utilities Department. Children’s activities include: a pumpkin patch, moon bounce, bucket truck rides and hay rides.
