Manassas ​Cub Scout Pack Among First to Offer Scouting to Girls​

You may have heard that young girls will be allowed to join the Boy Scouts of America starting with Cub Scouting in 2018, one of the very first packs in the country to offer the new co-ed experience will be Pack 1204 in Manassas which is sponsored by the Park West Lions Club. Starting Monday January 15th, girls ages 5-10 will be able to register to join the pack. They will have their own girls-only den, but will be able to earn the same ranks as the boys in the Cub Scout programs.

Lion Rob Hoitt the Chartered Organizational Representative for the Park West Lions Club added, "The motto of the Lion Club is 'We Serve.' We seek to serve as many people as we can. The Lions Club has a long standing relationship with Scouting, and so being able to a Scouting program that's open to young ladies further aligns the missions of Scouting and Lionism. Our club couldn't be happier to support this great change."

Applications are now being accepted online at http://www.beascout.org. The pack meets on Thursday evenings at 7:00pm at the Park West Lions Club at 8620 Sunnygate Drive in Manassas.
