MANASSAS, VA – A 23-year-old Manassas man is being held without bond after being arrested early Friday morning for assault and battery and three counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer following a domestic dispute, police said.
Lucian A. Cassidy was arrested after he was involved in an altercation with a 54-year-old woman shortly after 1 a.m. in the 7700 block of Gateshead Lane in Manassas, police said Friday. Prince William County police said that during the course of the argument, Cassidy pushed the woman and caused her to fall. When another family member – a 22-year-old woman – intervene, police said Cassidy also pushed her before police officers arrived.
Following an investigation, police attempted to take Cassidy into custody but he resisted arrest and ended up striking two officers, police said. A brief struggle ensued and in the process, Cassidy hit a third officer. The 54-year-old woman suffered minor injuries in the incident in which Cassidy was taken into custody. He is due in court on March 17, police said.
