Manassas Man Arrested In Connection With Robbery Formally Charged

Jesus Sandoval was arrested in December after being sought by police for six months. He is charged with robbery in a May 2020 incident.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A 37-year-old Manassas man who was arrested on New Year’s Eve in connection with the strong-armed robbery of a woman last May has been charged in the incident, Prince William County police announced on Friday.

Jesus Sandoval faces robbery charges in the incident, which took place on May 17, 2020, police said. According to police, a 29-year-old woman said that she had been robbed by a woman she had met earlier in the day. The victim said that she was accompanying the woman to work when they stopped at an apartment in Woodbridge and picked up a friend of the woman.

The victim told police the man, later identified as Sandoval, hit her several times and took her property before he – along with the woman – left in a dark0colored vehicle after they had stopped and forced the victim out of the car.

The victim suffered minor injuries and told police that her cell phone and keys were missing. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Sandoval, police said. But after issuing the warrant for Sandoval in June, police were unable to locate him until he was arrested on Dec. 31.

The incident remains under investigation as police continue to search for the woman they believed was involved. Sandoval is due to appear in court on the robbery charges on April 27.
