Manassas Man Dies In Motorcycle Accident on Christmas Day

A Manassas man was killed and his passenger was critically injured when their motorcycle crashed in Tennessee on Christmas Day.

KNOXVILLE, TN — A Manassas man was killed and his passenger was critically injured in Knox County, Tennessee on Christmas Day when their Harley-Davidson veered into an adjacent lane and struck a pickup truck, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel. Wayde West, 60, of Manassas, died at the scene of the accident and his passenger, 65-year-old Karen Lauderdale, of Knoxville, was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the motorcycle lost control and crossed the double yellow line just before 6 p.m. on Dec. 25, striking the rear of a Chevrolet Silverado in the 6800 block of Clinton Highway in Knox County. Both motorcycle riders were wearing helmets. Neither of the two occupants in the Chevy Silverado the motorcycle struck were hurt.

No citations or criminal charges are expected., the newspaper reported.
