Manassas Motorcyclist Injured After Police Chase In Fauquier: Police

Authorities in Fauquier County said a Manassas man was injured after he fled from deputies on a motorcycle Thursday morning.

MANASSAS, VA — A Manassas man was injured after he crashed his motorcycle during a police chase in Fauquier County on Thursday morning, authorities said.

Police identified the man as 36-year-old Wendall Howard, Jr. Authorities did not specify the extent of his injuries, but first responders took him to a hospital for treatment.

Charges against Howard are pending, according to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office.

A Fauquier County Deputy said he tried to stop Howard, who was riding a motorcycle, around 1:45 a.m. on Thursday for a traffic violation. Howard did not pull over and began to drive north on Route 29, police said.

The deputy followed Howard as he drove through the Town of Warrenton and turned onto Route 211. There, Howard crashed into a guard rail "at a high rate of speed," the sheriff's office said.

The deputy who was chasing Howard provided first aid until EMS personnel arrived.
