Manassas Pedestrian Death Leads To Charge Against Driver

A Manassas Park man faces an additional charge in a fatal pedestrian crash in Manassas, according to police.

MANASSAS, VA — A driver previously charged with DWI in a December 2023 fatal pedestrian crash faces another charge, Manassas City Police announced Wednesday

The crash happened around 11:01 p.m. on Dec. 2 in the 8900 block of Center Street. Police said the pedestrian was struck and pronounced dead by fire and rescue personnel. The driver of the 2008 Ford E350 was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.

After consultation with the Commonwealth's Attorney's office, Jose Rafael Lizama, 47, of Manassas Park, was charged with involuntary manslaughter. The driver was taken to the Prince William County Adult Detention Center and was held without bond.
