Manassas Resident Dies In Crash After Vehicle Hits Tree: Police

MANASSAS, VA — A 29-year-old Manassas resident died early Monday morning when the vehicle he was driving ran off the road and hit a tree near the intersection of Ashton Avenue and Rolling Road, according to the Manassas City Police Department.

At around 1:40 a.m., police officers went to the intersection for a report of a traffic accident. Their investigation revealed that a 2004 Saturn ran off the road into the grass median and hit a tree.

The driver, identified as Derek Scott Lett of Manassas, was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue personnel, the police said.

The police said they are continuing to investigate the fatal crash.
