Manassas Restaurant Inspections: Wingstop, Panera, Shahi Kabob Palace

MANASSAS, VA — Several Manassas area restaurants recorded violations during inspections between Aug. 24 and Aug. 30, according to the Prince William Health District.

Most COVID-19 restrictions have relaxed around the state, and health inspectors are returning to conduct many restaurant and other health inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.

Violations typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection. Other violations are addressed later, and an inspector may conduct a follow-up inspection to ensure compliance.

Here are the most recent inspections from the Manassas area, according to the Prince William Health District.

  • Total violations: 8
    • This food establishment has not established written procedures for responding to vomiting or diarrheal events that happen in the facility.
    • The integrity of the food packaging for a can of Mandarin Oranges was found to be compromised (severely dented along the end seam) and therefore exposing the food to potential contamination.
    • Measured spray bottle of sanitizer at 1500ppm chlorine using the test kit available in the kitchen.
    • Cans of paint stored in kitchen under handwashing sink.
    • Employee handling food were observed to not be wearing proper hair restraints.
    • Observed wet wiping cloth at 3 compartment sink not properly stored in the sanitizer bucket in between use.
    • Animal cracker containers being reused to store other foods in the kitchen.
    • The waste lines from the 3 compartment sink in the kitchen are directly plumbed into the sewage system.

    • Uncovered food (cooked rice, lamb and potatoes) in the walk in cooler.
    • Curry lamb cooked yesterday at 44°F in the walk in cooler - was not cooled within 2 hours from 57ºC (135ºF) to 21ºC (70ºF); and/or within a total of 6 hours from 57ºC (135ºF) to 5ºC (41ºF) or less.
    • The diameter of the air gap between the ice machine drain an the floor level is less than twice the diameter.
    • Exposed utility service line/pipe under the kitchen new handwashing obstructs or prevents cleaning of (floor, wall, ceiling).
