Manassas School Board To Fill Empty Seat
Applications due Monday for new member to serve until November special election.

The City of Manassas School Board has announced that it will appoint a new member to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Ilka V. Chavez. The new member would serve until Nov. 3, when a special election will be held for the seat.
Manassas residents interested in being considered for appointment by the board should send letters of interest and a brief resume to the School Board, Attention: Clerk of the Board.

These materials will be received in the Clerk’s Office no later than the close of business (4:30 p.m.) on Monday, Feb. 2.
Candidates will have the opportunity to present their qualifications to the School Board at a Feb. 17 public hearing, which starts at 7 p.m. (and on Feb. 18 if necessary) in the school system’s offices at 8700 Centreville Road, Suite 400, in Manassas.
