Manassas Travel Baseball Team Wins Big

12u Virginia Generals bring baseball trophy home to Manassas.

The 12u Virginia Generals, a travel baseball team based out of Linden Park in Manassas, took home the championship trophy as the Future State Prospects Baseball League-White Division Champions for the Spring 2012 season.

The Generals, 9-1 on the season, traveled to the Virginia Sports Complex in Ruther Glen, Virginia, for the division playoffs and went 5-0 on the weekend, beating the Great Falls Nationals in the championship game 6 to 5.

Manager Tim Gladstone and assistant coaches Steve Phillips, Randy Deering, and Kevin Kane led the team Sunday in a hard-fought battle.

"What a Father's Day gift this is," Gladstone remarked at the trophy presentation. "Kudos to the Great Falls Nationals, what a great game they gave us. I'd really like to thank all of you boys for working hard, because this team was built with only an original two players from two years ago. You all have worked so hard at practice, and I must thank my assistant coaches and my wife Randi and all the parents for all the time, fundraising and support."

The boys, who are from Warrenton, Gainesville, Bristow, Manassas, Fairfax, Clifton and Culpeper, head to the 12U AA USSSA World Series in Roanoke, VA,  in July.
