Police Find, Arrest Teen Accused In Murders Of Mother, Brother
Fauquier Co. authorities arrested Levi Norwood in North Carolina. He is accused of killing his mother and brother, and shooting his father.

MIDLAND, VA — A 17-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting his mother and 6-year-old brother in their home on Valentine's Day has been arrested, according to Fauquier County authorities. Levi Norwood was apprehended in North Carolina after employees of a store called in a shoplifter to police, according to the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office. The red 2007 Toyota he was driving was also recovered, authorities said.
Police launched a manhunt for Norwood, who also is accused of shooting his father, Joshua Norwood, who escaped the home. After barricading himself in the house on Elk Run Road in the Midland area, the teen fled.
His father told police when he entered the home before 6 p.m. Friday he saw his wife and younger son dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Norwood fired several shots at his father, who fled and called 911. The older Norwood was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Residents in the neighborhood were told to shelter in place while police surrounded the home. About 10:15 p.m. officers breached the house after the could not make contact with Levi, but he was not found inside.
The Toyota Norwood was driving was reported stolen about 5 miles from his house.

Police set up roadblocks in and around the crime scene area. Just after 3 p.m., police reopened Elk Run Road; however, law enforcement is still processing the crime scene, and residents can expect this activity to continue throughout the day.
