MCPS Deputy Superintendent Named Curriculum Leader of the Year
Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for Manassas City Public Schools Michaelene Meyer has been named the 2011 Curriculum Leader of the Year by the Virginia Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for Manassas City Public Schools (MCPS) Michaelene Meyer has been named the 2011 Curriculum Leader of the Year by the Virginia Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (VASCD).
VASCD recently honored Meyer for the accomplishment at the 2011 Annual Conference in Williamsburg, according to a Manassas City Public Schools press release.
The award is intended to recognize school leaders whose focus on curriculum and instruction has promoted excellence in teaching and learning, increased student achievement, and created a positive school climate and culture, the release said.

MCPS Superintendent Gail Pope received the award in 2006. "To have two recipients from the same school division in the last five years is a testament to the hard work these ladies collectively do for instruction," a colleague said.
