Memorial Day 2022: Where To Find Events In Prince William County

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Memorial Day is a holiday is to reflect on those who have died serving in the armed forces. It is also the unofficial start of summer, bringing numerous special events to enjoy with the family.

In Prince William County, the county government will host a Memorial Day service to recognize county residents who have died while serving in the military. The event will be held on Friday, May 27 at 10:30 a.m. It is free and open to the public.

On May 27, another name will join the Prince William County War Memorial. Forrest Nelson Leamon, a Drug Enforcement Administration special agent, will be added to the memorial.

Leamon died in a helicopter crash in 2009 during his third deployment in Afghanistan. Leamon was on a covert mission with two other DEA agents and seven soldiers to combat drug trafficking. All 10 died on the mission and are buried at the Arlington National Cemetery.

On Saturday, May 28, Brew Republic Bierwerks will host the fifth annual Woodbridge Beer Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event includes dozens of breweries from around the region presenting their craft beers.

On Memorial Day, the American Legion post in Woodbridge will host its annual barbecue. The event is scheduled to run from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Also on Memorial Day, the Skate N Fun Zone in Manassas a skate event from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
