My "Top 10" Favorite Things About Pole Dancing (Part 1)
Most people who try pole dance fitness love it – myself included. Even now, after all these years, I STILL look forward to my weekly pole dancing class(es). Those who love this art/sport do so for a variety of reasons. Here are my “Top 10” reasons for loving pole dance fitness (actually, this is only five of ten; I’ll post the other five next week!):
10. Pole dancing got me wearing shorts again.
That may seem silly, but it’s true. Before I started poling I would wear jeans all summer long because I didn’t like the way my legs looked in shorts. Who knows if I started wearing shorts again because my legs became more tone or if I simply became more comfortable in my own skin…either way, I’m just happy to step out in shorts!
9. I’ve met so many amazing ladies and have made life-long friends.
It’s hard to make friends when you get to a certain age – at least it was for me! Sure, I made some friends at work, but most of the people I socialized with were the moms of my kids’ friends (and we didn’t have much in common except for kids of the same age). Then I started poling…and met some truly wonderful women that I never would have met otherwise. I’ve met some of my best friends through pole dancing and I can’t imagine life without them!

8. My kids get to see my do something that makes me really, really happy…
Call me crazy, but I think it’s good for children to see that their parents have hobbies. For a long time I kind of lost myself in being a wife and a mother. Now I have a hobby that makes me really happy, and I’m glad my kids get to see that. When my kids grow up and have children of their own, I hope they too find an outlet that inspires them.
7. They also get to see me do something that is good for my body.
We talk to our kids about physical fitness a lot. They learn about it at school. Beyond talking, it’s important to set a good example for them by being active. Whether you walk, run, bike, do yoga, pole dance, or whatever…anything you do to get moving is better than nothing.

6. It gave my self-confidence a much needed boost.

Next week I’ll post the remaining five reasons. (I would have posted them all today, but it’s a long list and I didn’t want to bore you!) Have YOU tried pole dancing before? I’d love to know what you liked about it.
For the love of pole,
