New Red Light Camera Warning Period To Begin In Manassas
Manassas is starting a 30-day photo red light enforcement warning period on Monday at the intersection of Liberia Ave. and Signal Hill Road.
MANASSAS, VA — The Manassas City Police Department is starting a 30-day photo red light camera enforcement warning period on Monday, July 26 at the intersection of Liberia Avenue and Signal Hill Road.
As part of the city’s traffic and engineering studies, the city determined photo red light enforcement is appropriate for the intersection.
After the 30-day warning period, citations will begin being issued to drivers who run the red light at the intersection.

Traffic violations go through a two-step review process with the city’s red light camera vendor, Conduent Transportation. The violation is then sent to the Manassas City Police Department where it is reviewed a third time by a police officer.
If the photo is determined to be a violation, a citation will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle. The fine is a $50 civil penalty, which does not apply any points to the owner’s license, nor can it be used to increase insurance rates, the police department said.

The new traffic light cameras are part of the city's "Ready. Set. STOP!" traffic enforcement campaign.
Earlier this month, the warning period ended for drivers who run red lights at the intersection of Liberia Avenue and Euclid Avenue. The city is now issuing citations via photo enforcement on both the southbound and westbound approaches to the intersection.
The Manassas police said roadway safety studies show photo red light enforcement can reduce crashes and improve safety by altering driver’s behavior. For more information on photo red light enforcement, visit the Manassas City Police Department’s website.
