NOVA-Manassas Displays ‘Hallowed Ground and Sacred Air’

From Northern Virginia Community College: In honor of African-American History Month, the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College is exhibiting mixed-media artwork by Anne Bouie of Washington, D.C.

“Hallowed Ground and Sacred Air” runs from Jan. 24 to Feb. 27 in Colgan Gallery, with a reception to meet the artist scheduled from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

With her mixed-media assemblages, Bouie aims to express the universal themes of order, harmony, growth, beauty and transcendence. She says art is often used as the medium to explain and communicate timeless spiritual values important for living.

Bouie has exhibited at Honfluer Gallery, Galarie Myrtis, Nevin Kelly Gallery, Millennium Salon and D.C. Arts Center. She is a member of Black Artists of D.C., Millennium Arts Salon, Women’s Caucus for the Arts, Washington Arts Project, and Pen and Brush Gallery in New York.
