NOVEC Seeks Contributions For Operation Turkey

NOVEC is asking residents to donate non-perishable food to aid NVFS's Operation Turkey, a program that aids low-income families.

MANASSAS, VA—Here's a way to help low-income families put a decent Thanksgiving dinner on the table. It's "Operation Turkey," a food drive of sorts put on by Northern Virginia Family Service and being helped by the Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative from Oct. 30-Nov. 14. The only catch is that this branch of Operation Turkey isn't asking for turkeys.

Rather, NOVEC is asking folks to drop off non-perishable food at its Operation Turkey offices from 8:15-a.m.- 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. One's at 10323 Lomond Drive in Manassas, and the other's at 14500 Minnieville Road in Woodbridge.

Suggested items include break and muffin mixes, instant mashed potatoes, pasta, rice, boxed desserts, sugar, flour, evaporated milk, prepared pie crusts, as well as canned meats, vegetables, cranberry sauce, pie filling and gravy.
