'Operation: Turkey' Food Drive Kicks Off: Prince William Schools
Prince William County residents are encouraged to donate food items to help local families in need for the Thanksgiving holiday.

MANASSAS, VA — Prince William County Schools this week kicked off the "Operation: Turkey" food drive, which encourages county residents to donate non-perishable food items to help local families over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Donations can be dropped off at any Prince William school. Donations will then be picked up and distributed by Northern Virginia Family Services/SERVE and ACTS, two nonprofit organizations in the western and eastern ends of the county, respectively.

- Canned fruit or veggies
- Stuffing
- Gravy
- Cranberry sauce
- Muffin/biscuit/cornbread mix
- Pie crust mix
- Canned pumpkin or sweet potatoes
- Canned or instant potatoes
- Rice
- Pasta and sauces
- Macaroni and cheese
- Dry/canned beans
- Applesauce
- Coffee, tea, cocoa
- Soups and broths
- Peanut butter
- Jelly
- Boxed desserts
- Flour
- Sugar
- Puddings and gelatins
