OPHS Soccer Player Signs With VMI

Myranda Emery has officially signed on to play soccer for the Virginia Military Institute next year.

Osbourn Park High School senior Myranda Emery has officially signed on to play soccer for the Virginia Military Institute next year, according to a press release issued by the local high school.

Emery signed the ‘letter of intent’ Wednesday, Feb. 2, in the company of her parents (see photo).

VMI is located in Lexington, Va., which is about a two-and-a-half hour drive from Manassas, and is a Division I school that competes in the Big South Conference, according to the release.

Last year, the VMI Keydets had a record of 3-16-1, finishing 2-6-1 in the Big South Conference. Their season ended with a loss to a #1 seeded team in the Big South Tournament.

Emery played left back and earned Second Team All-Cedar Run District honors her sophomore year at OPHS. Emery decided on the military school because she felt that it would provide her a multitude of opportunities for success in the future, according to the release.

Emery’s long-term plan is to serve in the Air Force after graduating from college preferably as a  physical therapist.
