Osbourn Crushes Forest Park, 54-7

Offense amasses 465 yards in its first win.

In a game postponed from Friday night to Saturday at 4 p.m. because of last week's heavy rains, Osbourn's defense held Forest Park to one touchdown as the offense flourished with seven players rushing and four players receiving for the Eagles.

“I told the guys let’s just go out there and have fun and get on roll,” Head Coach Steve Schultze told the Eagles prior to their Saturday game against Forest Park.

And that is exactly what they did. Osbourn cruised to a 54-7 victory over Forest Park to get their first win of the season.

“We needed it. The bottom line is we played two good football teams the past two weeks. They played hard and earned their wins, but we did a lot to hurt ourselves,” Schultze said. “It was great to see our guys playing with less mistakes and get a win.”

Instead of using the spread offensive scheme the has been so effective in years past, the Eagles found success in their heavy single-wing package.

Senior Cedrick Delaney led Osbourn with 184 yards rushing on 16 carries and three touchdowns while senior Robert Carter added another touchdown and 72 yards on 12 carries. When the Eagles did go to the air they turned to junior Conner Lane, who was 8 for 14 passing with 128 yards and two touchdowns.

While the offense amassed an astonishing 465 total yards, the defense played a strong role in the victory as well. The Bruins only managed to gain 62 yards of total offense the entire game.

“The defense did a great job. We had some great individual performances but the defensive and offensive line won the game for us no doubt,” Schultze said.

Osbourn looks to build on this success next week as they travel to take on the Eagles of Freedom-Woodbridge.
