Osbourn was able to get off to a pretty solid start offensively in the first quarter, but the Eagles’ defense lacked its usual sharpness. Osbourn was able to score 19 first quarter points but also allowed Heritage to put up 17, resulting in a slim lead at the end of the first.
Osbourn continued to do a good job of putting points on the board in the second quarter and held Heritage to 14 points in the period. After a pretty tight first half, Osbourn had a 38-31 lead heading into the locker room.

One of the things that helped Osbourn out in the game is Heritage was committing way too many fouls which was giving the Eagles a lot of opportunities at the free throw line.
Osbourn scored 28 of their 75 points at the line. The disappointing thing for the Eagles was that it should have been much more than 28 as they took 50 foul shots as a team. Osbourn is usually very consistent at the free-throw line, but the Eagles only shot 56% from the line as a team on Saturday. That marked the second straight game in which they struggled from the stripe as they couldn’t get them to drop at the game against Stonewall either.
Heritage was still hanging tough after the half. In the third quarter, neither team shot the ball extremely well and that led to the teams staying pretty even as far as scoring. The Eagles were able to outscore the Pride 15-14 in the third, but the game was still within reach for Heritage as Osbourn took a 53-45 lead into the fourth quarter.
Osbourn played a little bit more like the team that people have seen most of the season in the final period. The Eagles put 22 points on the board in the fourth quarter and held Heritage to only 11 points. As a result, Osbourn ran away with a 75-56 victory.
The leading performers in the game for Osbourn were:
Jay Lane with 20 points
Robert Carter with 15 points
Jahaan Roberson with 11 points
Landon Dufrene with 10 points
Although they won by 19, the Eagles’ coaches and players were not all that happy with the overall performance. They all know that they are capable of more and with the playoffs right around the corner, Osbourn wants to make sure that they are playing their best basketball.
Still, the Eagles improved their overall record to 18-1 with the win and remain undefeated in the district. Osbourn will be back in action Monday night as they travel to Battlefield for a 7:30 game.
