Osbourn's Cedric Delaney

Osbourn High School’s Cedric Delaney is the Manassas Patch Athlete of the Week; he had an extremely impressive week and helped lead Osbourn to a second place finish in the Northwest Region Tournament and also the school’s first ever trip to the state tournament.

The dynamic junior guard was the leading scorer in two out of the three games for the week and also led the team in assists.

Delaney dominated in the game against Stafford early in the week on the offensive-end as he scored a season-high 27 points. The scoring outburst helped lead the team to a 92-65 victory in the first round of the regional tournament.

Delaney also played a big role in his team's victory against Patrick Henry in the semi-finals of the regional tournament. With the victory, the Eagles cemented a spot in the state tournament for the first time in the school's history.

Delaney tallied 11 points in the win, but it was his passing skills that wowed the fans, dishing out nine assists.

 Delaney and his Osbourn teammates played their hearts out in their final game for the week in a tough loss to Potomac. It was the regional championship game and although the Eagles lost, both teams are set to participate in the state tournament  this weekend. Delaney led Osbourn with 15 points in the loss to Patrick Henry and narrowly missed taking home the title in the Northwest Region.

 Delaney averaged just under 18 points per game for the week and showed off his great passing skills. The Eagles junior guard is a very versatile player and has been a big part of Osbourn’s success this season. Delaney has continued to get stronger as the season has gone on and he seems to be playing his best basketball at the right time. He will be looking to help his team make a run at a state title as they play Friday night at Virginia Commonwealth Univeristy in Richmond in the first round of the state tournament.
