Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Bus On Sudley Road In Manassas: Police
A 42-year-old man died on Thursday after he was struck by a bus at the I-66 underpass on Sudley Road in Manassas, police said.

MANASSAS, VA — A 42-year-old man died on Thursday after he was struck by a bus near the I-66 underpass on Sudley Road in Manassas, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The victim has not been publicly identified, as authorities attempt to notify his next of kin.
Authorities responded to the I-66 underpass on Sudley Road around 7 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23 to investigate the crash.
Through their investigation, police officers determined that a 2016 Prevost Bus was travelling southbound on Sudley Road. As the bus was travelling through the overpass, it struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway, police said.

After he was hit by the bus, the pedestrian struck a concrete barrier and fell into the roadway, according to the police report. Rescue personnel took the victim to a nearby hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
Speed, alcohol, and drug use were not factors in the crash, the police department said. Authorities are still investigating the collision. No other injuries were reported. The police department did not say whether the bus was carrying any passengers at the time of the collision.

In a news release, authorities noted that the victim's name would be released after his next of kin is notified.
