Pedestrian Hit, Killed By Car On Manassas Road: Police

A 35-year-old Dumfries woman was killed in the accident, which happened shortly after 6 p.m. Friday.

MANASSAS, VA — A Dumfries woman was fatally struck by a car Friday night on Prince William Parkway in Manassas, police said in a statement.

Prince William County police said officers received a call about a crash involving a pedestrian shortly after 6 p.m. Friday. The crash happened near Crooked Knoll Parkway.

According to police, a 2005 Toyota Sienna driven by a 45-year-old Manassas Park man was traveling westbound on Prince William Parkway when he struck a pedestrian wearing dark clothing and walking in the middle of the road.

The pedestrian was identified by police as Sarah Jane Williams, 35, of Dumfries. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died from her injuries, police said.

According to authorities, speed or impairment did not play a role in the crash. The driver, whom police did not identify, remained on the scene.
