Pennington's Joyce Boyd Stockton is PWCS Principal of the Year

Principal's dedication and hard work translate into a school that runs smoothly, efficiently, and effectively.

A standing ovation says it all: the much-beloved principal of Pennington Traditional School, Joyce Boyd Stockton, waved and blew kisses at family, friends, and colleagues; and received congratulatory hugs from Superintendent Steven L. Walts, School Board Chairman At-Large Milton C. Johns, Deputy Superintendent Rae Darlington, School Board members, and Associate Superintendent for Middle Schools William Bixby.

About 350 people attended the annual educator reception January 29 honoring Stockton,National Board Certified Teachers, and nominees for the Teacher of the Year/Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award.

“Joyce Stockton is a remarkable example of someone who builds relationships, and that shows up in test scores, parent surveys, and of course, in the climate of the school,” said Bixby, as he introduced her at the ceremony. “She sets the bar high for her students, her staff, and more importantly, for herself.”
