Police: Fatal Stabbing Was Justified, Self-Defense

Police responded to a domestic altercation in October and found Stephen Brown had been stabbed. He died at the scene.

MANASSAS, VA- A man fatally stabbed a family member in self defense during an Oct. 4 argument, according to Prince William County Police.

The finding came following review of the final autopsy and investigation details with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, according to a release from the PWCPD.

Officers responded on Oct. 4 in the 12700 block of Lost Creek Court in Manassas. The victim, Stephen C. Brown, 48, was stabbed by a 25-year-old family member during an altercation.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene and no criminal charges were filed at the time.

On Friday, Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Paul Ebert determined the circumstances surrounding this incident and subsequent death were deemed self-defense and that the final finding of this homicide was justified.
