Police: Missing Manassas Man Found Dead

Search for him involved personnel from several police departments and concerned residents.

The Manassas police have announced that a 23-year-old man reported missing earlier this week was found dead Thursday afternoon.

At about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, the police concluded the search for Tyler D. Abt after he was located by officers in the area of the 9900 block of Godwin Drive, on the northwestern side of the city. He was pronounced deceased at the scene from what appears to be a suicide, according to a police statement.

The police said he was last seen at about noon Tuesday and believed to be traveling on foot.

The search for him involved the Manassas City Police, the Prince William County police, the City of Manassas Park Police and Fairfax County police, as well as concerned individuals from the community. The case remains an active investigation, the Manassas police said.
