School Bus Driver Charged In Fatal Haymarket Crash
Police say the school bus hit a landscaping worker. No children were aboard at the time.

HAYMARKET, VA—A Prince William County school bus driver has been arrested and charged in the fatal May 23 crash in Haymarket.
No children were aboard the bus when the crash happened around 8:11 a.m. around Old Carolina Rd and Piedmont Vista Drive. Police say a landscaping truck with an attached trailer was stopped in the right travel lane as workers prepared to mow and landscape the area property. The school bus was traveling in the same lane and struck the truck and one of the workers.
Eusebio Joya Castro, 53, of Aldie, was pronounced dead on the scene. He had been standing behind the vehicle and setting up a sign when the crash happened. Castro was wearing reflective gear at the time.

The 62-year-old driver of the truck from Chantilly was inside the vehicle and was extricated. The drivers of the pick-up truck and the school bus were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A third worker, from Annapolis, Md. was able to avoid injury.
Sheli Cheru Paugh, of Front Royal, is charged with involuntary manslaughter. She turned herself in on May 25 and was released on a secured bond. Her court date is Aug. 14.
