Staff Assaulted At Manassas Adult Detention Center

Prince William County police are investigating two separate assaults that occurred this week at the Manassas Adult Detention Center.

MANASSAS, VA — Prince William County police are investigating two separate assaults on staff members at the Adult Detention Center in Manassas, one of which resulted in injuries. According to police, the attacks took place Tuesday and Thursday at the facility, and two inmates are facing charges as a result.

The first incident happened Tuesday when an inmate identified as Leroy Antoine Wells, 27, of Woodbridge, allegedly threw water on the floor and charged at staff members. During the attack, Wells and facility staff fell to the ground, causing injuries to two staff members. Both were treated at an area hospital, police said.

Wells is now facing a charge of assault and battery on a corrections officer.

On Thursday, police again were called to the Adult Detention Center for an assault report. According to police, a staff member was attempting to provide food to an inmate identified as Robert Thomas Diamond, 38, of Manassas, when Diamond allegedly became argumentative and hit the staff member.

Police said the staff member was not injured. Diamond also is facing a charge of assault and battery on a corrections officer.

Diamond is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 16, while Wells' court date is Dec. 20. Both remain incarcerated at the Adult Detention Center.
