MANASSAS, VA — A student brought an "electroshock weapon" to Colgan High School last month, police said. The student, who has only been identified as a 14-year-old girl, will not face criminal charges.
The girl brought the weapon to school on Feb. 17, police said. School security told the resource officer about the weapon around 8:50 a.m.
A staff member saw that the girl had a weapon. The staff member told a teacher, who notified school security, according to the police report.

The police department did not say whether they confiscated the weapon or if it was returned to the girl or her family.

Police officers originally sought petitions to file a criminal charge against the girl. On Feb. 23, the county's Juvenile Court Services said the matter was handled informally. They noted that it would be handled through the county's juvenile diversion process.
This month, school security found another weapon at a middle school in Haymarket. Police said that a 12-year-old boy sold a knife during a class at Ronald Reagan Middle School last week.
