MANASSAS, VA — A man fatally shot a victim in a Manassas parking lot last month due to an ongoing dispute between them and a woman, the Prince William County Police Department said. The suspect was charged on Wednesday.

Authorities have identified the victim as Richard Del Cid, a 37-year-old man from Woodbridge. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting on Hoadly Road on March 20.

The suspect, 46-year-old Mauricio Antonio Mayorga, is charged with with murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. His court date is pending. Mayorga had already turned himself in to police in Arlington on unrelated charges.

The shooting occurred around 1 a.m. on March 20 in the parking lot of Hoadly Marketplace in Manassas, according to the police report. The victim was in the parking lot with a female friend when a vehicle approached them.

Investigators said the victim and the woman had met in the parking lot to exchange documents. Mayorga saw the pair in the parking lot, followed them, and then shot Del Cid, according to the police report.
