BRISTOW, VA — A teenage girl was hospitalized on Tuesday after an assault at Youth For Tomorrow in Bristow, the Prince William County Police Department said.

Authorities identified the victim as a 14-year-old girl. Her injuries were not life-threatening, the police department said.

A 16-year-old girl was arrested in connection with the assault. She is charged with one count of malicious wounding.

The girl's court date is pending and she is being held at the county's juvenile detention center.

The assault occurred on Tuesday morning at Youth For Tomorrow, a facility for "at-risk youth."

Investigators believe the victim and the suspect had an argument that escalated. Officers noted that the suspect struck the victim in the face.

Police officers learned of the assault when the victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment. After an investigation, the 16-year-old girl was taken into custody.
