Thanksgiving 2022: What's Open, Closed In Manassas

MANASSAS, VA — Thursday, Nov. 24 is Thanksgiving Day and a federal holiday, which means government offices, schools and some businesses will take a break in its observance. Many government offices and services will also be closed on Friday, Nov. 25 for Black Friday, allowing workers a four-day weekend.
Here are all the openings and closings to know around Prince William County and Manassas for Thanksgiving on Nov. 24 and Black Friday on Nov. 25.
- Prince William County government offices: Closed on Nov. 24 and Nov. 25.
- Manassas City government offices: Closed on Nov. 24 and Nov. 25.
- Prince William County Schools: Schools and administrative offices will be closed on Nov. 24 and Nov. 25.
- Manassas City Schools: Schools and administrative offices will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday.
- Post offices and mail: Closed on Thanksgiving Day. No mail will be delivered.
- County Courts: All Prince William County courts and court offices will close at 12 p.m. Nov. 23 and remain closed through Black Friday on Nov. 25.
- OmniRide Bus Services: No OmniRide buses will operate on Thanksgiving Day. OmniRide Express buses will not operate on Black Friday, but other OmniRide services will operate normally.
- Libraries: Libraries around Prince William County will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and remain closed on Thursday and Friday. The Independent Hill and Nokesville libraries will remain closed on Saturday.
- Historic Sites and Museums: The Henry Hill Visitor Center at Manassas National Battlefield Park is closed Thanksgiving Day. Many county historic sites including the Rippon Lodge Historic Site in Woodbridge are closed for the season, but other sites are open for self guided walks.
- Landfill/Recycling: The County Landfill in Manassas and the Balls Ford Road Compost Facility are closed Thanksgiving Day. Residents may take recycling to several drop-off trailers throughout the county.
- Trash Collection: Trash and recycling collection from the City of Manassas will be suspended on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24. The make-up day for collections will be on Friday, Nov. 25. Trash originally scheduled to be picked up on Friday will instead be picked up on Saturday.
