Three Badly Injured in Bike Race at World Police & Fire Games: Media Reports
Collision occurred in Prince William Forest Park, say county police.

Three bike riders were seriously injured Thursday at Prince William Forest Park during the 2015 World Police & Fire Games, according to police and media reports.
The Prince William County police said the riders were taken to local hospitals for treatment, and a crash investigation unit was on the scene.

Radio station WTOP reported on the air at about 5 p.m. that two of the riders suffered life-threatening injuries and were flown by helicopter to an area hospital, and the third rider was seriously injured.
The collision occurred at about 1 p.m. during a race for bicyclists of ages 40 and older, InsideNoVa.com reported. The park is south of Route 234 and west of Interstate 95 near Dumfries.

In a Facebook post, the organizers of the World Police & Fire Games said they’re working with the police, and “will share more information as appropriate. Our thoughts and prayers are with our injured competitors.”
Thousands of first responders from around the world are participating in the games, which conclude Sunday. Events are taking place at venues throughout the Washington metropolitan area, including Prince William County.
