Traffic Alert: Construction on Center Street

Most of the work will occur during the overnight hours, but major downtown route will be impacted.

The Manassas City Public Works department will be working on a major utility project for at least the next month in Old Town Manassas.

Crews will be upgrading underground electric and water lines along Center Street.

The majority of the work will take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. to minimize traffic interruptions along Route 28 (Center Street) from about July 8 through Aug. 16, but Center Street will be impacted between Main Street and Fairview Avenue in Old Town, according to city documents.

Road closures will be nightly only, while two lane traffic will be maintained during the day. The preliminary work is being performed by the city in preparation of the new
