Train Strikes Person On Tracks In Manassas: Police
During their investigation, the Manassas police discovered that a person laid down on the tracks as a train was approaching.
MANASSAS, VA — A person was struck by a train in Manassas Tuesday night, suffering serious injuries, according to the Manassas City Police Department.
At around 10:35 p.m. Tuesday, police officers went to the area of 9490 West St. in response to a report of a person hit by a moving train. Witnesses told police they could see an object on the tracks near the Grant Avenue Overpass and that the train attempted to apply the emergency breaks.
During their investigation, the Manassas police discovered that the person laid down on the tracks as the train was approaching. The victim was transported to a local area hospital and is expected to survive their injuries.
