Travel Author to Present "Around the World in 90 Minutes" at NOVA
Marty Essen presents the show based on his book at Northern Virginia Community College.
Travel author Marty Essen wrote Cool Creatures, Hot Planet: Exploring the Seven Continents while exploring the seven continents over the course of 3.5 years.
The book Essen wrote during the excursion he took with his wife, Deb, was made into a multimedia show Around the World in 90 Minutes.
Essen will present the show, tell stories, and showcase photos from the trip at Northern Virginia Community College’s Manassas campus in the cafeteria 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Essen’s travels included Queensland, Australia, the Amazon Rainforest in Peru, multiple European countries, and more.
In the book and show, Essen documents the adventures he had with his wife while visiting each destination, including how a canoe ride in Zimbabwe turned into a hippo attack.
