Update: Police ID Worker Who Died in Freezer Collapse

State and Prince William investigators are looking for answers in warehouse accident.

MANASSAS, VA - A 21-year-old Manassas Park man died Tuesday when a shelving unit collapsed inside a walk-in freezer at a warehouse in the Manassas area, according to the Prince William County police.

The police identified the victim as Andy Yobani Yoya-Rubio. The accident occurred at Reinhart Foodservice, 11777 Balls Ford Road, near Interstate 66.

The police responded to the food distribution warehouse at 3:40 p.m. to assist firefighters after an interior rack system, used to store food products, collapsed on several workers.

Yoya-Rubio was pronounced dead at the scene, the police said. Seven other workers were injured, according to Battalion Chief Thomas Jarman, a spokesman with the Prince William County Department of Fire & Rescue.

Two workers were seriouslty injured and flown by helicopter to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment, InsideNova.com reported.

The rack system that fell was about 30 feet high and about 200 feet long, according to media reports. Police detectives are investigating the cause of the rack system's collapse.

That investigation is being led by officials with the Virginia Occupational Safety and Health program, Jarman said, along with county building inspectors and the county fire marshal's office.
