$80 per person, lunch included, reservations REQUIRED. 150 years ago, African American soldiers of the United States Colored Troops made their large-scale debut in the Virginia theater of operations. This tour will explore their contributions during the nine month Richmond-Petersburg Campaign. The tour will explore portions of Petersburg National Battlefield, including the site of the infamous Battle of the Crater, and will culiminate with a rare opportunity to tour portions of the New Market Heights Battlefield, where 14 Medals of Honor were awarded to black soldiers.
