Victim Identified in Fatal Shooting in Gainesville

An unknown subject shot three people over the weekend in Gainesville following an argument, according to Prince William County Police.

Prince William County Police have identified the fatal victim in a shooting in Gainesville that left two others injured.

Claude Lee Jackson III, 23, of Gainesville, is the county’s third murder victim in 2015.

Officers responded to a call regarding shots fired at 1:50 a.m. Saturday in the area of of Old Linton Hall Rd and Charis Avenue.

Jackson and another victim, aged 22 of Bristow, were found at the scene. A third victim, aged 24 of Manassas, walked into a area hospital with a graze wound on his hand.

The men were shot following a physical altercation, according to police. The suspect left the scene after the shooting, possibly in a light colored SUV.

Police describe the suspect as a black male with dreads. He was wearing a white shirt with sweatpants.
