Victim Seriously Injured In Manassas Shooting, Teen Suspect Arrested: Police

A shooting in Manassas left one person seriously injured earlier this week, authorities said in a news release.

MANASSAS, VA — One person was seriously injured in a shooting in Manassas on Tuesday, the Manassas City Police Department said in a news release.

Authorities said a hospital took the victim to a hospital for treatment. They did not provide any information about the victim's condition or their identity.

Investigators identified a suspect, a 17-year-old boy, after the shooting. The police department has not publicly named the boy due to a Virginia law that protects the identities of minors accused of crime.

Authorities said the teenage suspect was detained on Tuesday and served with a detention order. Police officials did not provide any information about possible charges.

The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night in the 9300 block of Taney Road. When police officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the police report. The officers provided first aid until an ambulance arrived.

Other officers, including K-9s, searched the area and found a suspect. Authorities said the investigation is still "active and ongoing."
