Wanted: Baseball Players and Fans

Historic Manassas, Inc. is recruiting baseball players for summer's Civil War sesquicentential baseball games.

Baseball, a favorite American past time, was a big hit during the Civil War era.  “It had its early evolution when soldiers, North and South, were striving to forget their foes by cultivating, through this grand game, fraternal friendship with comrades in arms,” remarked 1860’s professional baseball player Albert Spalding.

Historic Manassas, Inc will host 14 Civil War-style games during the sesquicentennial celebration.  They are currently recruiting baseball players, local clubs, church and community groups to play ball on Friday, July 22, Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24 at 2:00 pm.  Contact Kenny Loveless at 703-334-5524 or email Kenny@northsideauto.com to sign up.

Baseball fans are invited to attend the summer games at Jennie Dean Elementary School fields.  A $20 ticket package includes parking, shuttle rides to the games, entrance into the Manassas Museum and $5 off any purchase at participating restaurants and shops.
