As Inside Nova reported in 2022, the Wawa approval drew a split vote from Manassas City Council and concerns from the neighboring Manassas Baptist Church. That part of the church directly next to the Wawa is the Marsteller property, which the city purchased and intends to turn into a park, fire station and community center. Manassas Baptist Church maintained its main church building next to the Marsteller property.
