The role focuses on designing and assessing programs that boost student success, with applications open now through October 2. Local residents with higher-ed and academic support experience are especially encouraged to apply.
3. A once-segregated botanical garden honors the Black workers who built it (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Norfolk residents can now see a new Dale Chihuly chandelier honoring the Black Works Progress Administration workers who built Norfolk Botanical Garden in the 1930s but were once barred from visiting it. The garden continues to seek descendants of those workers and invites families to its annual WPA Heritage Day, where names are read aloud and the workers' stories are shared.
4. Norfolk Groundbreaking Marks Final Link in Express Lanes Network (tidewaternews.com) — Construction has officially begun in Norfolk on Segment 1B, the final missing link in the Hampton Roads Express Lanes network that will eventually connect managed lanes across the region's busiest interstates. Federal, state, and regional leaders say the completed system should give Norfolk and Hampton Roads drivers a more reliable option during rush hour and major events, though exact timelines and costs remain unclear.
