Norfolk Tides and NSU fans use free parking and transportation during gameday (wavy.com) — Norfolk fans heading to the Tides game or NSU football faced tight parking Saturday, but the city eased the crunch with free parking at MacArthur North and South garages plus light rail access to Harbor Park. With casino construction limiting usual Tides lots and NSU's rivalry game drawing big crowds, transportation staff urged fans to arrive early and use the free options.

Assistant Director Science Academic Support Services (odu.edu) — Old Dominion University in Norfolk is hiring a full-time Assistant Director for Science Academic Support Services to oversee the Science Tutoring Centers and University Testing Center. The role focuses on designing and assessing programs that boost student success, with applications open now through October 2. A once-segregated botanical garden honors the Black workers who built it (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Norfolk residents can now see a new Dale Chihuly chandelier honoring the Black Works Progress Administration workers who built Norfolk Botanical Garden in the 1930s but were once barred from visiting it. The garden continues to seek descendants of those workers and invites families to its annual WPA Heritage Day, where names are read aloud and the workers' stories are shared.
   

4. Norfolk Groundbreaking Marks Final Link in Express Lanes Network (tidewaternews.com) — Construction has officially begun in Norfolk on Segment 1B, the final missing link in the Hampton Roads Express Lanes network that will eventually connect managed lanes across the region's busiest interstates. Federal, state, and regional leaders say the completed system should give Norfolk and Hampton Roads drivers a more reliable option during rush hour and major events, though exact timelines and costs remain unclear.
