ALEXANDRIA, VA — A Springfield woman is $1 million richer after buying a winning lottery ticket in Alexandria.

Alice Grant bought a lottery ticket while waiting for her daughter's prescription to be filled at Giant Food, 3131 Duke Street in Alexandria.

When her Instant Millionaire ticket revealed a top prize, her first reaction was "This can NOT be real!"

But it was real. Grant beat the odds of 1 in 1,224,000 to win the top prize. Prizes range from $50 to $1 million, and the chance of winning any prize is 1 in 3.91.

Grant, who is retired, plans to pay bills but has no other immediate plans for her $1 million prize.
