2 Alexandria Schools Without Power Amid Strong Winds
Alexandria is under a high wind warming through Monday evening.
ALEXANDRIA, VA—Two Alexandria elementary schools are closed Monday, Feb. 25 after power outages. Students who have already been dropped off at Patrick Henry and William Ramsay Elementary Schools need to be picked up. ID is required to pick students up.
Administrative offices are open, while activities on school grounds are canceled. Employees should report for work. No other Alexandria schools are impacted at this time.
Alexandria is under a high wind warning through 6 p.m. Monday. The National Weather Service says strong winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 50 to 60 mph are likely. The strongest winds will happen Monday morning. Impacts could include downed power lines and trees and power outages.

As of 9 a.m., few power outages were reported to Dominion Energy in the city. Widespread outages are occurring south of Alexandria in Fairfax County.
