5 Alexandria Restaurants Make It To RAMMYs Finals

Andy's Pizza, Call Your Mother, Oak Steakhouse, Matt and Tony's and Bastille Brasserie & Bar are all contenders for the annual awards.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Five Alexandria restaurants are in the running for RAMMYs, the yearly honors organized by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington.

The awards range from general categories like best new restaurant to honors for personnel or specific programs within an eatery. This year, Alexandria restaurants have made it to the finals in a variety of categories.

Local chains Andy’s Pizza and Call Your Mother, a bagel shop and deli, are finalists for fast casual restaurant of the year. Both began in Washington, DC, but expanded rapidly in the past five years.

Andy's has already been called Best Traditional Pizza at the World Pizza Championships in 2021 and Call Your Mother's bagels were listed among the country's best by Bon Appetit magazine in 2023.

The Alexandria location for Andy’s is 107 N. Fayette St.

Call Your Mother’s is at 1300 King St.

Other Alexandria hopefuls are in personnel or program categories. Two local restaurant managers have been named finalists for manager of the year: Oak Steakhouse’s Todd Hunt and Bastille Brasserie & Bar’s Juan Ramirez. Matt and Tony’s is nominated for Best Brunch of the Year.

Matt and Tony's serves American fare and specialty cocktails. Its brunch program has been recognized before, when Washingtonian Magazine named it among the best brunch spots in the region. You can find them at 1501 Mt. Vernon Ave.

Bastille Brasserie & Bar calls aims to bring a breath of Paris to Northern Virginia. Last year, it was named Best French Casual Dining Experience by LUXLife Magazine. Visit them at 606 N. Fayette St.

Oak Steakhouse locations are regularly featured in travel magazines and best of lists. Last year, Eater listed the upscale Alexandria location at 901 N. St. Asaph St. as one of region's best.

To see the finalists in all categories, visit the RAMMYS website. Residents can also vote for several categories, including Favorite Gathering Place, Best Brunch, Best Bar, Hottest Sandwich Spot and the newly created category, Content Creator of the Year.

Public voting runs from April 20 to May 17. Voters can cast their ballots on the NBC4 Washington website.

Winners will be announced on June 29, during The RAMMYS Awards & Gala, at the Arena Stage at The Mead Center for American Theater.
