The new school year will be here soon. Here are five dates you should be aware of on the Alexandria City Public Schools calendar.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—The 2018-2019 school year is almost here, and while students may be dreading it, the time has come to make preparations for the upcoming school year.

All Alexandria City Public Schools students will be back in school by Sept. 4 after the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 3.

Here are five other important dates on the ACPS public schools calendar that you should be aware of during the first few months of the year.

  1. Oct. 8: No school (professional development day)
  2. Nov. 6 (Teacher work day)
  3. Nov. 12: No school (Veterans' Day)
  4. Nov. 21-23: No school (Thanksgiving)
  5. Dec. 24-31: No school (winter break)
